Aerosmith Announce ‘Peace Out’ Farewell Tour

Well, it’s finally come to this for Aerosmith. The time has come for America’s greatest rock band to hang it up. At least as far as major tours go. Will it really be the final run? Or, is it talk? Like many other bands.

The signs point to yes, this will be their final tour. Steven Tyler is 75. Joe Perry can barely stand. And drummer Joey Kramer isn’t even joining. Which already makes the shows a hard sell. Never the less, Aerosmith feels like it’s their duty to ‘go crazy one last time’ for the fans. And they’re not getting any younger. It’s now or never.

The band released a short promo video that’s honestly kind of lame. It feels like they’re holding on to their youthful energy a bit too much. Trying to make themselves seem relevant to younger generations. It’s hard to pull off when your frontman and bassist look like Skeletor. The ‘fun’ vibes of the video feel phony. And just authentic at all. If the fans want to show up, they will. You don’t have to release this ridiculous promo video. It’s just so over the top. It’s not the news story of the year.

The other issue plaguing the situation? The ticket prices. They’re absolutely out of control. 350$ for nosebleeds? Are you freakin’ kidding me? That’s just greedy. Now, that’s not at all the venues. Some places start at 92$. But the prime floors seats? You’re looking at over 3,000$ for seats. Some going for as much as 10,000$ and up. There’s no way, no matter how legendary. How good you sound. How amazing you make the show. Nothing is worth that amount of money. You can get cars for these prices. It’s not a new issue. I just didn’t think that Aerosmith would stoop to those levels. But here we are. I shudder to think what V.I.P. passes go for. And without all original members? It’s really a hard sell. I hope that they find success. But I for one, will not be attending any shows. I was fortunate enough to see them on the ‘Just Push Play’ tour. Their last truly great era. And you were fortunate enough to see them then, or any other elite period of their career. Count yourself lucky and move on. Crank it, live it, love it.
