After three years and change, Zakk Wylde and crew are back with new material. With a typical banger of a single that fits perfectly within the Black Label ballpark. ‘Set You Free’ is a single that fans can dig into. And also keeps the Label legacy alive and well.
The track is catchy, melodic and bad ass all at the same time. Much like the bands past 20 plus years of metal excellence. The riff, groove and vocal melodies work together to create a class A, old school metal experience. Black Label Society have always brought the metal goods. And ‘Set You Free’ is no exception. It’s a logical step in what the band does. Frankly, I’m surprised that there hasn’t been a song of the same title since the bands inception. Either way, it’s a kick ass song that’s sure to represent the upcoming album, ‘Doom Crew Inc.’ in an appropriate way.
The last album ‘Grimmest Hits,’ was a great record. And based on the new single for the upcoming album, the trend seems to be well in tow. One thing you can always count on with Black Label Society is consistency. ‘Set You Free’ falls perfectly in line with that. If it’s an indicator of how the album is going to sound, I’d say we have a banger on our hands. Is there anything else from BLS? ‘Doom Crew Inc.’ is set to drop on November, 26. The music video that’s out for the track is so timelessly good. It’s fun, dry and hits all the spots visually and musically. It doesn’t get much better.
