‘Fear Inoculum’ May Not Be TOOL’s Final Album

TOOL are riding high on the success of their new album ‘Fear Inoculum.’ It’s been an exciting past few weeks for the band as their new album has launched them back into the spotlight. Including knocking off mega star Taylor Swift from the number one slot on the Billboard hot 100. Of course, TOOL are planning to ride out the success, which includes a major tour in support of the album.

Now, there’s been statements from frontman Maynard James Keenan that ‘Fear Inoculum’ will most likely be TOOL’s final album. However, he never hinted that the tour would be TOOL’s last by any measure. Keenean is, of course, involved in many many other projects besides TOOL; A Perfect Circle and the like. Apparently however, Danny Carey and co. have different ideas about TOOL’s future. Carey recently has offered a timeline for what TOOL’s next five years or so might look like.

‘We’re going to tour on this probably for two or three years at least, I imagine. It feels like we’ve done that for every record, and then I guess we’ll see where we’re sitting after that. My hope is that we get into the studio and knock out another record. We have tons of material. It won’t take 12 years, or if it does, I’ll probably be so old I won’t be able to pick up my sticks anymore! But my hope is that we do another record and just move forward.’

We Mr. Carey, I think you speak for most TOOL fans when you say that. Waiting 12 years to get into the studio to start on a new album is pretty asinine. And even though the time between the albums didn’t hinder the bands popularity, it did build expectations and anticipation. And even though ‘Fear Inoculum’ is good, the time between it and ‘10,000 Days’ created this feeling of ‘it’s going to be the greatest album of all time.’ And when it came out and wasn’t, some fans were disappointed. Despite the album having really strong tracks like ‘Pneuma’ and ‘7empest.’ But hopefully, in the near future, we’ll get more new TOOL material. It just depends on what the band members agree on doing.
