Upcoming Tour – Poison & Cheap Trick

Look out folks and get ready for nothin’ but a GREAT time!  Hard rock legends Poison are teaming up with other hard rock legends Cheap Trick for a summer tour in U.S.  It’s should be an excellent show providing two of the most lively stage shows in the hard rock world.

In the 70’s Cheap Trick were unmatched with their stage show.  Give or take a few bands such as KISS.  And once Poison happened in the late 80’s they soon gathered the nickname ‘The KISS of the 80’s’.  Their show was simply unparalleled in energy, choreography, pyrotechnics and stage design.  Now, both of these extremely energetic bands are together for a summer tour entitled the ‘Nothin’ But a Good Time’ tour.  The tour starts in Irvine, CA on May 18th and goes through June 24th in Allentown, PA.  The dates are listed below.

Now, when all is said and done this is a great tour idea.  But at the end of the day it’s just a short run in the United States.  Ya know, the U.S. isn’t the only country with Poison and Cheap Trick fans.  There’s Europe, Japan and South America.  What about those folks?  I’m sure they’re just as loyal.  I would just like to see an extended tour that went to those regions.  Even if it’s only for a week or two in each continent.

The other thing is this.  When will Poison do a new record?  For the past 16 they’ve seemed to do nothing but tour on their first three albums.  I understand, when ‘Hollyweird’ was released in 2002 that was the lowest point of sales for bands such as Poison.  Anything metal at that point in time was considered very uncool.  And the album was met with extremely poor sales.  So I understand why Poison may be a little reluctant to record new material.  That being said, just do it!  Just do another album.  You’re fan base, which is considerably large, really wants new material to sink their teeth into.  And I’m not just talking about going into the studio and puking out 11 songs.  I mean really go in and focus and create an album that’s as good as ‘Flesh & Blood’.  And the music climate has shifted.  I believe that a new album would be embraced by the masses.

Cheap Trick on the other hand have released three albums:  Two with new, original material and a Christmas album; in the past 20 months or so.  Maybe they should be the ones headlining.  Either way it’s going to be a great show.  It’s a duet of rock bands that can’t go wrong.  So be sure to get tickets and bring big ass signs to the show demanding a new album from Poison.  I bet they’d listen.

Expect a great show from Cheap Trick as well.  I mean, this is a small Amphitheater and they play it like a stadium.  Plus, Robin Zander hasn’t lost any of his voice.
