Covid-19 Greatly Effects Touring And Rock

2020 was supposed to be the year when every rock and metal band ever had a reunion and did a major tour. Keeping the genre alive and well. Little did we know that a pandemic was just around the corner, fueling mild panic in society. Resulting in many tour postponements or cancellations.

First it started with only a few bands. Sons of Apollo were among the first to cancel dates, which were scheduled for the far east. That was quickly followed by a string of acts cancelling or rescheduling their performance dates. Some acts include: Rage Against the Machine, Green Day, Jimmy Eat World, Wolf Parade and any band associated with Live Nation. The Live Nation company has cancelled and postponed all tours indefinitely. Which really sucks for many of the acts. The really commercially successful acts like Green Day will financially be fine. But prog metal acts like SOA are still putting in their own money to play and to keep touring for paying the bills. And it’s their lives. Something these bands all revel in is being able to perform.

But some bands are going forward. And they’re not being shy about it either. Some bands even declaring ‘fuck coronavirus!’ Such as The Exploited. KISS have also rescheduled dates, but only pushed performances back a few weeks. Pushing the tour forward. But those bands are becoming more few and far between as the days go on. So what can fans do to support their favorite acts? Simple, buy their music. It’s never been where the main money is, it’s with touring. But if all fans start buying their favorite rock and metal acts it can help some of the more underground bands. Hopefully this blows over sooner rather than later. And these bands get back out to doing what they love most.
