The Darkness Release Excellent New ‘Jussy’s Girl’ Track

The Darkness are back! And with their strongest material since the killer ‘Last of Our Kind.’ It’s a perfect primer for what’s shaping up to be a totally badass Darkness record.

When The Darkness want to bring it on the quality, they really bring it. The track opens with such a strong, classic riff. You’re instantly hooked. Justin Hawkins comes in with the vocals. Generally using his non falsetto voice. Which frankly, is always welcome. When he uses his falsetto too much, it can become a little silly. It does have its place though. And it’s used to full potential in this track. The chorus is very memorable. A perfect, pop hard rock song that the audience can sing along with.

The guitar tones are very rich. Particularly during the solo bridge. Just Hawkins takes the lead on this one. His brother does the leads on most tracks. And damn it, if it isn’t simply perfect. Melodic and rich in texture. Rufus Taylors (son of Queen drummer Roger Taylor) fills are also very meticulously placed. Perfectly done. The song finishes off in classic form with the chorus and a quick instrumental fade out.

If ‘Jussy’s Girl’ is an accurate sample of what’s in store for the new album, ‘Motorheart,’ than it’s looking like it’s going to be one hell of a record. ‘Motorheart’ drops on Nov, 19.
